I do wear glasses. Par example: this video. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 11. I got contacts when I was 16 and I’ve been switching between contacts and glasses over the last few years. Sometimes my contacts are really comfortable and sometimes my eyes are quite irritated and I have to wear my glasses all the time. Once in a while someone will suddenly realise that I wear glasses, while other people see me with them all the time. I guess I haven’t been wearing my glasses in videos a lot recently.

Tl;dr: Yes, I wear glasses.

My first reading experience of The Great Gatsby was… okay. But after seeing the movie on Friday, I have a strong urge to reread it and see what I think of it now. I always appreciate books more when I read them for the second time.

I found this one the hardest to do. I tried to show different types of bravery and not just the Katniss and Tris kind. Like, the bravery to be yourself when it might be difficult, the bravery to keep going when things are hard or the bravery to do what’s right. See all four houses here.

This is exactly what I dislike about book snobs. It’s fine if people just see the movie and enjoy it. It’s also fine if people see the movie first, like it, and then go on to read the book. And it’s fine if you just want to read the book and don’t want to see the movie. If a movie encourages people to pick up the book it was based on, IT’S NOT A BAD THING. /rant

10. Favorite book you’ve read this year?

I’ve only read 14 books in 2013 so far, 11 if you don’t count rereads from previous years. Including rereads my favorite would be The Host by Stephenie Meyer, without rereads it’s a tie between The Great Gatsby and Habibi. You can see all the books I’ve read so far this year on GoodReads.

I have, but it was such a long time ago! At the time I felt like I was missing something as I was reading the book. I just couldn’t connect with it. After finishing the book I decided I’d wait a couple of years and then try again. Maybe I’ll reread it soon.

I can already get by in German (I think I would be able to read an entire book and understand most of it), so I’d probably pick French or Russian!

23. Genre you rarely read (but wish you did)?

War fiction. I tend to avoid books about any kind of war, but recently I’ve been trying to get more into it. I just finished A World Between Us by Lydia Syson, which is set in the Spanish war and I’m currently reading The Aftermath by Rhidian Brook, which takes place right after WW II.

53. A book you didn’t expect to like but did?

Hmm, that’s really difficult, because I rarely start reading a book I think I won’t like. There are a couple of books that I didn’t know anything about before I started reading them and are now some of my favorites: The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham and The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides.

English! I like the rhythm of the English language a lot more than Dutch, though in general I just prefer to read books in the language they were written in (English/Dutch).

That’s a really good question! There are a bunch. The Great Gatsby used to be one of them, but can finally cross it of the list. Probably Moby-Dick and The Fountainhead.

The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon. I had to read it for class and it’s actually a novella. I think I read 4/5th of it and I just couldn’t get myself to finish it. I donated the book straight after my semester was over.
